Zoe's fascinated by how strength and resilience manifest in characters from all walks of life. Even better if with an attitude.

Zoe has so much love, too much sass, and so many scares of the giant world. So chooses to be an artist. It actually helps– embrace mess and uncertainty! Adulting is to own the child you are, and navigate the world.

She quests in circles, coming across a clearer, deeper, and more available self every round.

She writes; makes ensembles; one-person shows; more questions than answers; peeks into content and form's love life.

Constantly juggling cultural paradoxes, mediating her belief system with the real and practical. Zoe's bilingual. There are more than two voices in her head.

Loves debating– arguing. Rare, controversial takes and why things are how they are. Pushes buttons and boundaries. Voices multiple sides. One day she may move past it.

The Bio

Hi! I'm Zoe Liu, she/her pronouns. My Mandarin name is 刘心竹. It means my parents hoped I'd always know what I'm doing.

I grew up in Beijing and went to high school in Dayton, OH. Undergrad at WashU in St. Louis, and graduating this May from The New School with an acting MFA! Some credits: Taiga in the Berkshires (WTF), 400 Years of Inequality (CU Great Hall), Isabel (TNS). Based in NYC and Beijing, looking out at the globe.

I love theatre because it makes me feel grounded and happy; I believe art is the epitome of the human experience, and art creation is everyone's birthright.
